BATANG is the term that means "Background" in Korean. When looking back on the history of architecture, our ancestors used to build their houses on the present "Madang", which means the yard in Korean. So building surrounded the courtyard naturally. On the other hand, we are building our houses on old "Madang" now. This makes the building stand in the center. Both are "BATANG" (background) of each other through interaction and reaction. BATANG helps ensure that your project is designed properly with establishments of the standards to public health, safety, general welfare, and client's demand especially. Our aim is to surpass our client's expectations.

About Members
Next to many years of experience with leading architectural firms in South Korea and the United States, Chang Hak Paik established the private practice of BATANG, INC. in Los Angeles in 2010.
In the meantime, he with the firm has successfully completed commercial, residential, religious, financial, and institutional projects based on the philosophy of constantly studying, pondering, and pursuing a mistake-free architecture.
Paik, Chang Hak received his bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering from INHA University in Korea and got certificates to practice Architecture from the University of the State of New York Education Department and California Architects Board. He holds architectural licenses in California, New York in the US, and South Korea.
